Team Building Event of the Year 2010!

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Over this past year we have run some absolutely fabulous team building events for some absolutely fabulous clients. It is not usual for my colleagues and I to have difficulty choosing our favourite events for the prestigious team building event of the month award, and now we have gone through each of those and selected our team building event of the year for 2010.

And let me tell you it was so hard to make that decision!

At Sandstone we have a very impressive portfolio of 15 unique team building activities for our clients to choose from.  As such it is not possible for each event to be represented throughout the year.  In fact during 2010 seven of our team building activities have been selected.  These are: Cube, First Contact, Iceberg, Liberation, Romanbar, Vision Idol and Wild West.

We have all been chatting and trying to decide which we think are the top three events, and after much discussion the top three in reverse order are…

3rd: The Romanbar event in Luton in June

2nd: The Cube event in Windsor in April

1st: The Liberation event in Cardiff in May

There is no prize to this client for winning this prestigious title – other then good old bragging rights of course!

Congratulations and thank you to all of our clients for giving us some amazing events during 2010!

Singing Team Building

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Do not let the subject title confuse you, we have not yet ventured into singing team building events, well beyond the attempts we get for the karaoke in Romanbar!  No instead a few of us went to see one of our colleagues (Jo) perform in Dr Jazz and the Cheshire Cats for a Christmas show they were performing.  Jo has an absolutely beautiful voice and we were so pleased to see and hear her sing.

Well done Jo!

Team Building in the Snow

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

I decided with such a picturesque scenery around us at the moment with the snow that it would be a fantastic topic for a blog!  I hope that wherever you are that the snow is not causing you too much problems, but if you are having to take a snow day why not head outside with your kids (if you have them) and your neighbours and do a bit neighbourly team building.  Work together to create the perfect snowman or igloo or well anything out of the snow.  Have some fun and enjoy it!  After all we are not likely to get the snow at Christmas.  I know me and my colleagues will be having the odd snowball fights – in teams of course!

Team Building Event of the Month

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

We often find that it is a tough call to choose a single event of the month, but November took that difficulty to another level. We had a fantastic series of events during November across many different activities. Just top of the pile, though, was a First Contact event held in the North East. 6 teams of, wait for it, students battling it out to represent humanity as the intergalactic community is trying to decide whether to admit us to their ranks.

At a time when the actions of a stupid few have cast a shadow over the reputation of students as a whole, I am here to tell you that the 60 or so students that we spent the day with were excellent throughout and a credit not only to their university but also humanity as a whole. Which is just as well, given what was at stake!

The aims of the day included providing an opportunity for this course’s cohort to get to know one another better and form bonds that would enable them to work effectively in teams on various projects throughout their common degree course. Some of the highlights for us included a fantastic space walk race and the clear bonding within teams as we moved toward a hectic finale. The winning team were delighted and their preparation for the final in the maze meant that their winning status was thoroughly merited. Our team had as good a time as the participants did. There were no boxes left to tick. A thoroughly deserving choice of event of the month!
